1. Remove the foil with a Foil Remover. If the bottle has a wax seal, remove it with a knife or other implement. |

2. Pull the lever back into the "Open" position, and then place the device on the wine bottle. |

3. Clasp the bottle top with the two gripper handles and squeeze the handles together. You will see two pins extrude from the black rubber side pads. |

4. While clasping the bottle neck with the gripper handles, pull the large lever handle up and towards you, arcing all the way back over the machine to the "closed " position. The spiral is now fully inserted into the cork. |

5. Remove the cork by lifting the large lever handle up and returning it all the way over and back to the "open" position. |

6. To release the cork, first remove the device from the bottle. Clasp the gripper handles together again, and pull the large lever handle up and back over the top towards you to the fully closed position. |

7. Then return the handle to the "open" position. The cork will fall off the spiral. |
Please Note: Composite or synthetic corks utilized by some wineries today present particular challenges for this and ALL other corkscrews. In fact, the lift in pounds-per-square inch required may be triple or even quadruple the amount of a standard natural cork! Best results in these cases occur when the Lever Model Wine Openers are used with deliberation - instead of a zip/zip action, be deliberate as you insert the worm and extract the cork. |
