The Roundlet Corkscrew

The roundlet, a pocket corkscrew in the shape of a barrel, originated in England in the mid-Nineteenth Century. After several enhancements, the basic design of the roundlet had stabilized by the second half of the Nineteenth Century. Most notable of these enhancements put the worm on a guide inside one end of the barrel, so that the worm could slide out of, and then turn perpendicular to, the barrel.

An English version, from the turn of the 20th century.
